
Isis Arevalo
Isis joined NSBHF as a paralegal in June 2025 after graduating from Princeton University with an A. B. in History and a Certificate in Spanish Language and Culture. Isis' independent work at Princeton explored the intersections of social justice, multilingualism, and her Colombian heritage, including research on Black political consciousness among enslaved Colombians and on bilingual education for Spanish-speaking Latine students in New Jersey. While at Princeton, Isis competed as an All-National witness with Princeton Mock Trial, the no. 4 ranked collegiate mock trial program in the nation. She also volunteered as an ESL tutor through El Centro, a student-run program of English instruction for non-English speaking adults.
Before joining NSBHF, Isis worked in the New York Legal Assistance Group's Immigrant Protection Unit, assisting recently arrived asylum seekers, and at the Correctional Association of New York, supporting criminal justice reform and advocacy for incarcerated individuals. As a paralegal, Isis directs her academic and professional experience combatting various iterations of systemic injustice into client-centered action and advocacy at NSBHF.
