NSB client Byron Halsey settles wrongful conviction lawsuit

In May 2015, Byron Halsey won a $12.5 million settlement of his 2009 lawsuit against detectives from the City of Plainfield, NJ and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, who used illegal tactics to prosecute and frame him as the murderer of his girlfriend’s children. Mr. Halsey spent nearly 22 years incarcerated in New Jersey jails and prisons before DNA testing led to his release and identified the real perpetrator of the assaults.

Neufeld Scheck & Brustin litigated the case with the Philadelphia civil rights law firm Kairys Rudovsky Messing & Feinberg.
