Representative Successes:

  • Berry v. Las Vegas Metro Police Department: $14.5 million settlement for 22 years wrongful incarceration; highest wrongful conviction settlement in Nevada history.
  • Lewis v. City of New Haven: $15 million total award for Connecticut man who spent 19 years wrongfully imprisoned based on acts of corrupt detective.
  • Hatchett v. City of New York: $14.75 million in total settlements for fabrication of eyewitness identification evidence, causing nearly 25 years of wrongful incarceration.
  • Connor v. City of New York: approximately $11 million in total settlements for 16 years wrongful incarceration caused by detectives’ coercion of an unreliable informant.
  • Wright v. City of Philadelphia: $9.85 million wrongful conviction settlement for fabricating confession and planting evidence—largest wrongful conviction settlement ever with the Philadelphia Police Department.
  • Hollman v. City of Philadelphia: $9.8 million pre-filing settlement—second largest wrongful conviction settlement ever with the Philadelphia Police Department.  
  • Santiago v. United States: $1.18 million settlement for 3 women sexually abused by correctional officer in NYC federal jail.
  • Tapp v. City of Idaho Falls: $11.7 million settlement for 20 years wrongful incarceration; largest wrongful conviction settlement in Idaho.
  • Denny v. City of New York: with co-counsel Cravath, Swain & Moore, LLP, obtained $14.75 million in total settlements for 29 years of wrongful imprisonment.
