Joanne Park / Paralegal

Joanne joined NSBHF as a paralegal in 2024, after graduating from Columbia University with a B.A. in History and Philosophy. At Columbia, Joanne was the co-Editor-in-Chief of the Columbia Undergraduate Law Review, equity officer for the Columbia Debate Society, chief articles editor for the Gadfly philosophy magazine, a peer writing fellow, and a research assistant in the Philosophy department. Joanne’s senior thesis, which was named the best thesis on the history of American civil government, analyzed coalition-building efforts between early gay organizations and civil rights groups against police misconduct in 1960s New York.

Previously, Joanne worked for Children’s Rights as a Paralegal intern, contributing to class action lawsuits against racially disparate foster care systems and advocating for policies supporting transgender and gender nonconforming youth, and as a Legislative Advocacy intern at ACLU California Action, lobbying for state bills on issues such as criminal justice, reproductive and family justice, and LGBTQ+ rights. Joanne anticipates attending Harvard Law School in the Fall of 2026 through the Junior Deferral Program.
