Olay Ajayi / Paralegal

Olay joined NSBHF as a Paralegal in 2023. She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Industrial and Labor Relations with minors in Law and Society, and Inequality Studies. While at Cornell, Olay served as President for Cornell Students for Black Lives, in which she facilitated fundraisers, community outreach, and social justice workshops and partnerships aimed at bettering the racial environment on campus and beyond. Olay also served as President of MOSAIC– in which she organized events, workshops, and outreach for the QTBIPOC student body at Cornell. She was also a Student Coordinator for Cornell Recreational services, where she used her knowledge and love of recreation and sports to progress and uphold an environment of inclusivity within the Intramural Sports Program. She also served as a member of Black Ivy Pre Law Society, Cornell Lunatic Comedy Magazine, Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity, a Co-author and Research Fellow for Cornell ILR’s Scheinman Institute, and was an SEO Scholar.

Previously, Olay interned at District Council 37 (DC37) as a Research and Negotiations intern, where she assisted in labor negotiations and engaged with union leaders to support the labor movement. She also interned at GLBTQ Legal Advocates and Defenders (GLAD) as a Public Affairs and Education Intern, in which she worked with the New England LGBTQ+ community and allies to bolster social justice and conduct outreach regarding legal rights. Olay hopes to continue using law as a medium for inspiring change and furthering civil rights for underserved communities.
