Rhianna Rey / Staff Attorney

Rhianna returned to NSBHF as a Staff Attorney in 2023.

Prior to rejoining NSBHF, Rhianna was a criminal public defender with the Legal Aid Society’s Parole Revocation Defense Unit where she represented individuals detained at Rikers accused of violating the terms of their post-release supervision. In courthouses across New York City, her work centered on advocating for clients’ immediate release during recognizance hearings within 24 hours of arrest; defending against allegations of parole violations and criminal charges during the revocation process; and challenging detention based on violations of clients’ procedural due process and other federal and statutory rights through writs of habeas corpus.

After graduating from law school, Rhianna worked at the District of Columbia’s Office of Attorney General in the Civil Litigation Division developing skills in a fast-paced motion and discovery practice. While she was in law school, she interned for the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau’s Regulations Division helping to implement a regulation under the Dodd-Frank Act that monitors credit lending to minority-owned businesses. Her interest in becoming a lawyer started here at NSBHF where she worked as a paralegal prior to law school.

Rhianna is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame School of Law and Oberlin College, where she was a Posse Foundation Scholar from Chicago, IL.
